About

I am Kristi:  a thirty-something wife and mom.  I currently reside in Northern Virginia with my husband of 10 years and our daughter, who is in the first grade.  We have two crazy dogs.

I received my undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a focus on International Affairs from Florida State University (Go Noles!).  I met my husband in a German class my sophomore year, and we have been together ever since.  I currently work as a project manager in IT, and am living proof that your college degree does not translate into what you will be when you grow up. I work full time outside of the home, which sometimes requires travel to boring and interesting places alike.

PeetSwea has recently become more than a place where I share book reviews, recipes and little insights about my life - it is now a new business in the making.  My love for sewing has now turned into a store where you can purchase totes, bags and other household items that I have handmade in my home.  Visit the PeetSwea shop on Etsy here.

Aside from my sewing adventures, I discuss books, cooking, home and family on my site.  Here is a little more about my other passions:

I have always had a love for books.  I am always carrying a book with me, and even if I don't get to read, the closeness to books makes me feel better.

I love to cook.  I dream of one day taking lessons to give me the basic techniques that might make my cooking great.  My love of cooking and books has intersected into more cookbooks than I will ever use.  Again, just the proximity of the books makes me feel like a better chef.

I started blogging because I wanted to connect with others who shared my love of family, love of books and love of cooking.  The name PeetSwea was started by my husband long before the blog.  He sometimes calls me Peet, which is his cute mix up of sweet pea.

I love to receive comments and suggestions, and I'm always looking for a good book recommendation.  Please review my Contact page for review guidelines and contact information.
